You will be able to check your refund status via IRS providing tool “Where’s My Refund?”
Your refund status will appear around:
- 24 hours after you e-file a tax return
- 4 weeks after you file a paper return

What you need to get refund status
- Social security or individual taxpayer ID number (ITIN)
- Tax return filing status
- The exact refund amount on your tax return (Form 1040 and Form 1040NR, Line 35a)
What IRS shows your refund information
- Return Received – IRS received your return and are processing it
- Refund Approved – IRS approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown
- Refund Sent – IRS sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail.
*It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.
